[Trumpet solo] >> I'm Jonny Easton. I'm studying Italian. The scholarship I've got is a music scholarship, I'm a trumpet player and it's primarily for performance. >> Before I came to the university I had quite good music experience from school. >> I'd done my grade 8 quite a few years ago. >> I had great opportunities to perform with quite famous brass bands and orchestras, so it was nice to come here and see that they had a good level of music as well. >> With the scholarship you get offered music lessons, and they find pretty good teachers. >> So I've got a teacher who has recorded with Beyonce, he's played Broadway, he's done everything you could do as a trumpet player and he's a great teacher. >> The scholarship definitely gave me more of a reason to get involved with music and dedicate more of my time to it, which has been great, because I've met new people and already had good experiences. >> There's loads of scholars, across I think almost every instrument, and there's a bagpipe player who's got a scholarship, I think there is a harpist, there's pianists, a drummer - there's loads. >> I think music will always be something I want to do whether it's as a hobby or professionally. >> I'd like to go into teaching, so working in schools being able to do a bit of music teaching is always helpful.
