>>Mimi Anderson, Sports Ready Clinic client >>My name is Mimi Anderson and I am about to be 55 actually in a week's time. And I came to the Clinic because in August last year I had a torn miniscus so I had to have knee surgery and a bit of work on the cartilage, which was an added bonus, I didn't realise I was going to have that. And because I am running across America Ð my goal was to run across America last year and I obviously had to postpone that Ð so I needed to have rehab, good rehab. I didn't have physios, I didn't have anybody, so I contacted the Clinic and they were fantastic. >>And so when I was given the all clear from my doctor, literally the next day, I was in here seeing Deana, absolutely amazing. And she just basically put the rehab together for me to get me back on track and get my knee looked after. The students, the service that I got from the students was fantastic actually. You know, they were third years and they were very good, they would ask me all the right questions, they would check and see how I was doing, had I got any aches and pains and then they would, under the guidance of Deana who had obviously prepped them as to why I was there, they would then massage me and do all the treatments and things on my knee. They were brilliant actually, they were very good. Some were more chatty than others but you know that's what you get isn't it, but they were fantastic. I was really pleased with them actually, really happy. >>I have had lots of treatment from the Clinic, oh my goodness. I initially started coming three times a week so I would have one major treatment from Deana on the knee and then I'd have the other two would be from the students. And actually, I think for me it was, it was too much treatment sort of, I think that we worked out that actually my knee was better having one major treatment and then one treatment from the student, so we cut it back down to just the two treatments and that worked really well actually. >>And also I got to use the AlterG treadmill, oh my goodness! You know you put these funny shorts on, you are zipped into this machine, you can't fart because if you fart when you open everything up it all sort of comes out and it's not very nice. And I, very slowly, I think I started on 50% or 60% of body weight because the machine just lifts you up with air and takes your body weight and I was allowed to walk for five minutes and then run for a minute and then walk for five minutes. Can you imagine how frustrating that was? And that went on and on and I thought I am never going to get any better. But actually, over the months, it was fantastic and so eventually Deana said, OK, on Saturday for the next two weeks you can go and do a long bike ride and, if your knee holds up with that, the next two weeks you can then go and use your ElliptiGO. I have an ElliptiGO bike, which means I am a bit like a prancing pony, it's a sort of, it's like a cross trainer but you can use it on the road, but I have to stand up and she said if those two sessions go fine then you can then start running outside and I thought, Yes! >>I would absolutely definitely recommend the Clinic to other people. I think, you know you come in here, everybody's nice and relaxed, it is very professional, which is great, which is what you want you know if you have got something wrong with you. And yes they are students but they are third-year students. You want it to be you know you want to know that actually they are going to be looking after you and they do and if there's any questions they are not sure about or they are not sure, then there is always somebody on hand to guide them, so absolutely I would recommend the Clinic, yes, no they have been fantastic for me.
