>> I'm Shazza Ali, before I started my PhD I did a Master's here at Kent in Group Processes and Intergroup Relations and before that I did an undergrad here at Kent in Psychology. >> My area of research lies within the field of social developmental psychology. Right now I'm exploring moral emotions and the effect that they have on pro-social behaviour during childhood. >> I did my undergrad here at Kent I enjoyed my time here and I had a really supportive supervisor. He suggested that I consider applying for a PhD here. >> Originally I had wanted to be a primary school teacher but when I was presented with this opportunity I decided to take it. >> The ESRC funding has supported me by allowing me to attend conferences, both in the UK and abroad, where I've presented research posters at some of them. >> They've also allowed me to meet other students and network with academics. >> The funding has also helped me with my research because I do research in schools around the country so it's helped me to cover travel costs and to support the schools that I work in too. >> To be honest I don't know what's next but I am taking every opportunity that's given to me by the ESRC. >> For example, I applied for an overseas visit which I will go on next year and I'm interested in applying for their internships in government and policy.
