Professor Toni Williams, Head of Kent Law School >> Kent Law School is one of the UK’s very best law schools. So what makes us special I think, importantly, is the critical approach we take to law.  >> We teach you to ask deeper questions about the law. To ask why, to ask what are the implications. To ask why does it matter that the law works in this way and not that way? And that’s very important.  Summer Prior, Law LLB student >> So they just don’t want you to regurgitate the black-letter law, they want you to put your own opinion on it and contextualise it based on other things you’ve learned, so different supporting evidence and theories. Geoff Wu, Law LLB student >> When you’re at Kent you learn not only the law but you also learn to understand the purpose of the law and, more importantly, the impact of the law. Understanding why the law exists the way it does. Maariyah Baig, Senior Status LLB student >> We’re encouraged to think outside the box, question things, and what that means to me is that when I choose to go out and practice law, I’ll be looking at things from a very different perspective. Professor Toni Williams >> I think Kent Law School is particularly attractive to students who are looking to be challenged, looking to be stimulated, who want a rigorous legal education.  >> We are a law school that encourages you to really think about who you are and how you relate to the world, how law relates to the world. What work law is trying to do, what work law claims to be able to do but doesn’t do particularly well.  Summer Prior >> So Kent has directly helped me in my future career. For example, when I took part in Kent Law Clinic I met lots of solicitors from the local area and was invited to work experience at their firm. >> I can go back there whenever I need to, if I have a day off University, which means that I can build up my skills and my CV which is hugely beneficial when I graduate.   >> In addition to that there’s great employability services which can advise you no matter what your career path is whether that’s becoming a solicitor in London, regionally or if it’s not becoming a solicitor at all. Professor Toni Williams >> We have a dynamic, talented, creative, engaged student body from all over the world, which is a wonderful aspect of who we are as a law school. We have academic staff also from all over the world who are working at the cutting edge of their subject.  Geoff Wu >> At Kent you realise there are so many different people. Not only different cultures and different countries, but also with different backgrounds. Summer Prior >> One of the things I enjoy most about being a law student at Kent is the fact that you can engage in so much more than just your degree here. Although I’m a law student I also have the opportunity to go and get involved in societies so Kent Law Society as well as sports clubs, I’m part of netball. So you really do get a well-rounded experience.  Mariah Baig >> There’s lots to do here when it comes to sports, when it comes to the arts, when it comes to pretty much any sort of recreational activity. I myself am involved with the creative writing society and the Islamic society on campus but honestly there’s something here for absolutely everyone.  Professor Toni Williams >>I would say that studying law at Kent can be just a life-transforming experience. If you want to be supported to think, if you want to be supported to challenge the world, to challenge law, to ask questions, then Kent Law School is the school for you.
