>>I chose this course because when I was doing my A levels I liked science a lot in school. There are so many different paths that you can take if you take a Biology degree or a science degree and there are there are so many different avenues you can go down. I thought well this gives me the broadest chance of doing what I want to after university and just to help me later on in life. >>There's just so many pieces of equipment; they almost have everything. You've got things that can break your cells open which is called a sonicator, we've got giant massive centrifuges which can you know spin things around. You can you can do real research, you can do honest proper science exactly how you see in the papers. >>The facilities are amazing, so you have a Medical Centre on campus, you have counselling services on campus, you have restaurants, you have bars, you even have a club on campus. So as a campus it's nice, self-contained and it's secure as well because you have Campus Watch which are the security that always are patrolling on campus all the time. >>So I went on a year abroad to Malaysia in between my second and third year and that was through the University, so they gave you an opportunity to go on a year abroad. Malaysia wasn't the only place you could go – some of my friends went Canada, some went to Mexico, America... So I chose Malaysia which was incredibly interesting. It was so different, it was such a culture shock going and I went to go and study at university out there and in the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering which was really good because when you go to another country and you see, not only their science facilities but their lecturing and the general way of doing things as a university, it's so different. But it definitely matured me. >>I think I learned an incredible amount just in in terms of viewing other people's opinions and seeing other facilities and things like that. And then when I came back I was like wow that's something I can put on my CV and say that I've been to another country and I've lived there for a year and studied there and got along and made friends and things like that. It just throws you out of your comfort zone and I think it's a really good point to have on your CV. >>It doesn't matter whether you're at the top of your classes or you know or whether you struggle with some things, as long as you work hard and as long as you put the time and the effort in, the results will pay off.
