Through taking the Forensic Science course, you don't necessarily have to just go down the pure forensic science route in being a Crime Scene Investigator. You can choose to sort of go more down the law pathway and sort of do something in that field or on the other hand through learning the sort of chemistry side you can choose to do Forensic Toxicology and this sort of really opens you up to different careers.
